Looking for an extra few units to fill up your quarter schedule?  Look no further!  Cal Poly has such a wide array of classes offered from all colleges across campus, and some even count as GEs that all majors can take!  Here is a list of 20 awesome classes offered at Cal Poly everywhere from the College of Agriculture to the College of Liberal Arts:

 

  1. BOT 121. General Botany: If you’ve seen the tags on trees throughout campus and have ever been curious what they mean, this class is for you!
  2. BUS 205. Personal Finance: Useful for learning how to balance your checkbook and other adult-like financial stuff that never really gets taught
  3. EHS 215. Floral Design I: Learn to make a perfect bouquet for a special someone!
  4. FRSC 123. Beekeeping: If you can get over the fear of getting stung, it might be really interesting to learn how honey is made!
  5. FRSC 231. Viticulture I: The San Luis Obispo area is home to many beautiful vineyards.
  6. RPTA 320. Special Event Planning: If you ever plan to host an event in the future, this class can help with strategies and considerations to take into account.
  7. AERO 310. Air and Space: Learn about aviation, aerodynamics, and other cool Aerospace Engineering topics.
  8. MU 221. Jazz Styles or MU 328. Women in Music: Enhance your knowledge of music history, and listen to some sweet tunes along the way!
  9. PSY 212. Interpersonal Communication, COMS 301 Business and Professional Communication, COMS 217. Small Group Communication, COMS 213. Organizational Communication, COMS 421. Gender and Communication: Since communication is essential in every single field, it is invaluable to learn tips and tricks for different subsets of communication.
  10. FSN 121. Fundamentals of Food: Food: enough said.
  11. KINE 181. First Aid/CPR/AED, KINE 137. Self-Defense: This class offers Red Cross Certification upon completion, which is a Great life skills to have (and great resume boosters) – KINE 181 also offers Red Cross Certification upon completion.
  12. KINE 109. Bowling, KINE 208. Golf, KINE 129. Stretch, Flex and Relax: Take a break from stressful classes to hit a few holes, make a few strikes, or stretch to your heart’s content!
