19 Signs You’ve Found Your Best Friend

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Friendships will fade in and out as life goes on. The real question is, how do you know which ones are here to stay? Lucky for you, we’ve compiled a list that includes all the best qualities to look for in a a BFF.

1.  Honesty trumps everything.

Your bestie would rather you know the truth than comfort you with a lie.

2.  You know how to compliment them.

By knowing the ins and outs of their insecurities you also know exactly what to say to make them feel as flawless as Beyoncé. Because who runs the world?

3.  You know their wardrobe inside and out.

“Don’t you already own a navy long sleeve that you usually wear with those skinny jeans we got in Santa Barbara, or with your black leggings and boots from Lucky Lulu’s?” Because 1. You shop together and 2. You spend so much time at their place you’ve seen their closet ONLY a few hundred times.

4.  You both routinely send unflattering pictures on Snapchat.

When the triple chins come out, you’re besties no doubt.

5.  When told to keep a secret, you assume telling your BFF doesn’t count.

It doesn’t right?

6.  Because they’re practically therapists that you can drink with.

We swear to it; sometimes all you need is your BFF. After a bad day, some friends will text you saying, “I hope you feel better,” while your BFF will send you videos of Channing Tatum stripping.

7.  There’s no pressure to watch what you say around them.

Your friendship is at the point where filters no longer exist and honesty is the only policy.

8.  You watch a Netflix series together.

What better is there to do Sunday morning other than binge watch “Grey’s Anatomy”?

9.  You would drop everything to be there for one another.

If your best friend is in a bind and needs your help, you drop what you’re doing to be by their side in crisis.

10.  Whatever they need, you know what it is.

You don’t have to try to cheer each other up because it happens naturally. Maybe all you need is someone to talk to that won’t just feed you what you want to hear. Or maybe you need someone to hang out with and not talk about what’s going on. Either way your bestie knows understands.

11.  Your best friend is like your best bra.

Hard to find, supportive, comfortable, always lifting you up, and close to your heart.

12.  You laugh, cry and everything in between together.

There’s practically no one else who can make you laugh harder. Whether from “remember when” stories or you’re so happy it makes everything way more easily laughable.  Not all bonding is over a good cry, but there’ll be a time where life seems better to go through with the person who may not have all the answers, but sure makes you feel like everything’s going to be okay.

13.  No guy or girl will ever come between you two.

No matter what, you both know what you have is more special than some romance at MoTav last night.

14.  If you do have a tiff you can only stay mad at each other for a short period of time because you have something important to tell them.

This is the test of best friends. You had a fight and aren’t talking to each other, but before the “no talking” starts, you have to tell them something first!

15.  The friendship quotes on Pinterest remind you of you and your BFF.

Okay, we know they can be a little cheesy, but they definitely pull at the heartstrings.

16.  You have accomplished things in life that you couldn’t have done without them (or at least it wouldn’t have been as fun).

Accomplishments like knowing the Parent Trap handshake or nailing the lyrics to “Hold On” by Wilson Phillips at karaoke night.

17.  You know all of each other’s stories.

Because you helped each other write them.

18.  You know you’re going to be friends for a long time.

Who else plans that you’re going to be on their left side when they throw the bouquet at their wedding? Plus they know too much so you have to keep them around.

19.  They’ve been on your mind this whole time.

You can’t help but think of them while reading through this list.
