10 Mantras to Start Your Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

With finals approaching and late nights spent in the library, we’re definitely feeling the end-of-the-year blues.  Sleep-deprived and overhwlemed college kids can defnitely use a boost of morale every now and then, and it’s important that we don’t get too lost in our own struggles.  Starting out with a positive attitude can set the right tone for a successful day. Here are some of our favorite mantras that help keep us inspired when we’re feeling a little unmotivated, unsuccessful or in need of a little pick me up!

1.  “You are enough. You are so enough. It’s unbelievable how enough you are.” – Sierra Boggess

2.  “Wherever you are, be all there.” – Jim Elliot

3.  “If you have good thoughts they will shine out of your face like sunbeams and you will always look lovely.” – Roald Dahl

4.  “I am in charge of how I feel and today I am choosing happiness.” – unknown

5.  “Comparison is the thief of joy.” – Theodore Roosevelt

6.  “The harder you work, the luckier you get.” – Gary Player

7.  “Spread love wherever you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier.” -Mother Teresa

8.  “Make it happen.” – Unknown

9.  “Always do what you are afraid to do.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson

10.  “Read books. Care about things. Get excited. Try not to be too down on yourself. Enjoy the ever present game of knowing.” – Hank Green

Taylor Steinbeck is a 4th year English major and theatre minor at Cal Poly SLO hoping to pursue an MFA in playwriting post-grad. When she isn't reading, writing, or editing, she's shirking her many responsibilities by scrolling through SJW blogs on Tumblr or gushing over 9gag.com/cute alongside her boyfriend. Taylor was born and raised in Orange County, but fantasizes about one day living in a shoe-box apartment in New York City where the world's theatre hub is only a subway ride away.
Frances is a third year currently studying Journalism and French at Cal Poly SLO. She hails from the Bay Area where you can usually find her in her local Philz, chugging a caffeinated drink. She is a firm proponent of boybands, rain, Shonda Rhimes shows and the occasional In N' Out run.
