Mount Pleasant Thrift Shopping 101

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C Mich chapter.

All of us, I’m sure, have heard Macklemores song “Thift Shop.” The song and music video really gives a meaning to ‘one man’s trash is another man’s treasure’ and also gives you a little glimpse of all of the treasures that you can find yourself at a thrift store.

Thift shopping requires a little bit of digging to find those 99-cent treasures but when you do it will be something you can’t live without.

We all know that sweaters, flannels and other cozy clothes are a go-to for these up coming chilly months. As financially unstable college students (myself included) we want to get the best deal on anything no matter what it may be. Instead of going to your favorite online store, you could find yourself being just as satisfied by thrift shopping to find some cozy winter clothing. You will be sure to find unique old sweaters, vintage sweatshirts and flannels all for a price that is well within our budget. The good news is that there are multiple thrift shops right here in Mount Pleasant!

Goodwill and Salvation Army are the main places that comes to mind for thrift shopping but there are some places that some may not know about. Second Hand Cash and Renee Rowley Designer Co, which are both located on Mission St, are both resale shops. This not only means that you could find some treasures but you could also sell them your own clothes you no longer want. Treasures 2nd Hand and Second Wind Sales are also other consignment shops located right here in Mount Pleasant. Treasure 2nd Hand located on High St. and Second Wind Sales on Upton St. Before you know it you’ll have come across some great thrifty finds!

Instead of shopping somewhere that everyone else does, try thrift shopping and find a one-of-a-kind shirt or sweater. Get some cozy, unique clothes to keep you warm this winter without breaking the bank. Get your thrift shop on!
