Pep Supper Raises $10,000 for Lowcountry Food Bank

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C of C chapter.

Each fall College of Charleston Greek life comes together to raise money for the Lowcountry Food Bank in its annual Pep Supper.  The three part competition involves each organization decorating a banner, performing a dance and donating to the Lowcountry Food Bank.

This year’s dance competition took place on November 3 at TD Arena after the women’s volleyball game against James Madison University.  After the game Panhellenic, IFC and NPHC executive members introduced the judges and the competition began after a performance by the Cougarettes, CofC’s dance team.

The night included dances to music by Beyoncé, Miley Cyrus, NSYNC, Justin Bieber and even a medley of movie songs. The competition was tough as each organization performed their best and it was obvious that they all had fun choreographing and performing their dances.  The crowd went wild for stunts, tumbling and creative dance moves, especially when the fraternity men pulled out all the stops to win them over.

After all the dancing was done, the winners were announced. Sigma Delta Tau and Alpha Tau Omega won the banner competition, Kappa Delta and Phi Gamma Delta won the dance competition, and Alpha Delta Pi and Kappa Sigma donated the most to the Low Country Food Bank.  The overall winners were Alpha Delta Pi and Alpha Tau Omega! All in all, College of Charleston Greek life donated over $10,000 and 81,000 pounds of food to the Lowcountry Food Bank!

Congratulations to all of the winners and great job raising money for this local charity!
