Well after a year of waiting the Oscars have finally come and gone. If you’re a movie finatic, like to keep up with the latest fashion or just love watching Hollywood celebs, then the Oscars are nothing short of a hit for you. This year some amazing movies, actors, actresses, producers, directors and many others were being honored however if you’re a busy college student you might have been stuck in the library studying during all the magic. Here’s what you missed during the night that exemplified the arts through film.
‘Best Picture’ Snafu

The most memorable and, probably, most talked about moment from the Oscars was the mistake made in announcing “Best Picture.” When the presenters took the stage and read the card they announce La La Land as the winner of “Best Picture” and the whole cast and crew made their way to the stage and started giving their acceptance speeches. Midway through the host and producers made their way to say that their had been a mistake and that Moonlight had actually won best picture. Nobody knew how to react and you could see the confusion in both casts’ faces.
‘Best Actor’ Left Without Applause from Celebs

Casey Affleck won “Best Actor” after numerous sexual assault charges have been filed against him. All the lawsuits were settled out of court, but him winning the award has had a lot of controversary around it and if The Academy made the right decision by presenting him with this award. Although he won the presenter of the award, Brie Larson, who has publically supported survivors of sexual assault and who has taken many public stands on the issue, refused to clap when Affleck accepted his award.
First Black Actress to Win for ‘Best Supporting Actress’

Viola Davis winning “Best Supporting Actress” and giving a speech that had all of us in tears. She is the first black actress to win an Oscar, Emmy and a Tony for acting– an amazing and huge accomplishment for her and her craft.
