Another week, another award show. Last week, we were graced with the 59th year of music’s grandest night–the Grammys. And while there were no Kanye interruptions, awkward Taylor Swift dance numbers or good ol country throwdowns, this year’s award show was full of memorable moments that we will be talking about for decades to come. In case you missed it, here are the top five highlights of the Grammy Awards.

1. The Hostess with the Mostess

Arguably the best late night comedian to appear on television in decades, James Corden, made the Grammy’s 3 ½ hour run time feel like 30 minutes. In true Corden fashion, the show started off with a musical number that poked fun at our favorite artists, and even threw shade at President Trump! As some award show hosts start off high and kind of falter as the night progresses, Corden showed people how it is done–never leaving the audience with a dull moment. And yes, in case you were wondering–Carpool Karaoke even made a slight appearance on the show. Please James, entertain us for years to come!

2. A Queen Amongst Us All

Leave it to Beyonce to stop the world on Sunday night. The expecting mother showcased her baby bump during a performance that we will surely be raving about to our grandchildren.  Queen Bey’s performance of “Love Drought” and “Sandcastles” is the most culturally relevant and proudly artistic moment to arguably ever occur in pop culture. Perfectly reflecting the poignant messages of race and womanhood depicted in her visual film Lemonade, Beyonce was living and breathing poetry on stage proving that she is one of the greatest musical icons of all time. And that’s a fact!

3. The Leaping Gaga

So far, this year has been the year of Gaga. Right after a showstopping Super Bowl performance, Lady Gaga has been on a roll. This ever evolving pop singer showcased her rocker side, performing with metal legends, Metallica. While there were some technical difficulties during their set, Gaga belted lyrics, headbanged as if her life depended on it and leaped into the audience–crowd-surfing like a entertainment pro. And is it just us, or does, dangerously leaping seem to be Gaga’s new trademark these days? Either way, you rock girl!

4. #BlackBoyJoy Takes the Grammys

Like Cinderella stepping into her glass slipper, Chance the Rapper was the underdog who ended up taking the night. Known for his mixtapes and protest against being a signed artist, the Chicago rapper not only was crowned as Best New Artist but also made it a point to ignore the cut-off music that notoriously interrupts speeches. And for those who were unaware of Chance’s awesomeness, quickly had a change of heart during a moving performance of “How Great.” Mark our words this will not be the last time you see or hear of Chance the Rapper.

5. Adele Pulls Heartstrings…Again

Well, we have been getting her song “Hello” stuck in heads all year so it is only natural that Adele would have been a marvelous spectacle on music’s greatest night. During the night, Adele graced us with not only one, but two breathtaking performances. One which she even demanded to restart during live television because, like all perfectionist, if it’s not done right, then shame on you! Winning not only song, record and–the holy grail of all awards–Album of the Year, Adele swept top honors at the Grammys. While this was a major achievement and well deserved recognition for the “25” artist, many people (including the writer of this article) felt as though Adele’s win of Album of the Year was a comple snub to Beyonce’s nomination for “Lemonade.” And guess what? Even Adele felt the same sentiments. As she accepted her award, a teary eyed Adele profested, “The artist of my life is Beyoncé, and this album to me, the ‘Lemonade’ album, was just so monumental.” Beyonce mouths in the audience, “I love you.” An extremely touching moment and you can hear folks all over the world quietly sobbing over the instance of support and sisterhood that Adele and Beyonce share. What a night to remember.
