7 Ways to Wear Your College Tees

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C of C chapter.

We’ve reached the point in the semester when it’s hard to put in the effort to look nice every day. You’d probably rather just throw on a t-shirt and athletic shorts. After all, you have a drawer full of free t-shirts you’ve gotten from different events on campus, and it seems a shame to only wear them as pajamas. But how can you wear those t-shirts without looking like you just rolled out of bed? (Even though you probably did) It’s not as hard as you may think to make your college t-shirts look fashionable. And they’re obviously much more comfortable than your dressier shirts, which is just icing on the cake!

1. With shorts and tights

For an edgy look, wear a t-shirt with shorts and black tights with either sneakers or your favorite boots. Add other grungy accessories like a flannel shirt and casual jewelry. This look is very casual and comfy but still stylish.

2. With a chambray top

A chambray button up with black skinnies is already a campus uniform. Change it up a bit by leaving the chambray shirt unbuttoned with a college tee underneath. This is another extremely comfy and casual outfit that you could wear everyday, whether you’re going to class or just hanging out on a Saturday afternoon.

3. With bold pants and a statement necklace

If you’re more of a fashionista, this is a very chic way to spice up your favorite college t-shirt. Most college tees have only one or two colors and a simple design, so they’ll match a lot of different colors and patterns. Pair your most stylish patterned jeans with your t-shirt, but keep the jewelry fairly simple. It should be bold, but the pants are the main focus of this outfit and you don’t want to distract from that.

4. With cut-offs

High-waisted cut-offs were a summer staple, and if you go to school in a warm area you can wear them well into the fall. Keep your style simple with a college t-shirt tucked into worn in cut-offs. You can add whatever accessories you want to make the outfit match your personal style. This outfit looks and is really effortless, but it adds so much to a simple t-shirt.

5. With boots and a fitted blazer

You can NEVER go wrong with a blazer. It’s a very classic look if you stick with simple colors like navy blue and brown that will look good with any accessories. However, if you want to be more bold and daring, opt for a bright blazer for an extra pop of color.

6. Pair it with a skirt

Show off your dressier side by tucking your t-shirt into a skirt. Any skirt will do: a flowy maxi, a-line, midi, circle, and pencil skirts would all work with this look. The skirt dresses up the look, but the t-shirt keeps it casual.

7. With booties and a scarf

An outfit made for fall, this is somthing you could wear to class, shopping, or to the big game. Even though it’s extremely simple, it’s not dull or boring. You can add your own personal touch to this look as well. You could add a beanie, a vest, or statement jewelry to personalize your outfit.
