5 Reasons Why February is Awesome

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C of C chapter.

February always gets a bad rep for being the worst month of the year. Instead of hibernating these 28 days away, why not embrace some of the reasons why February might be great?!

1. TV Weather

You might feel guilty about staying in and Netflix binging on a hot summery day in July, but not in February!  In February you can spend your whole Sunday under blankets watching Scandal and know that everyone is probably doing the same thing.

2. Wifey Season!

It’s the notorious time of year when everyone wants a cuddle buddy. Guys are more likely to look for someone to consistently hang out with than just a one-night stand. Also, this is the time of year when college guys do the unusual and ask girls out on real dates!

3. Vacations are actually cheaper

You might be saving your money for spring break, but if you want a weekend getaway hotels are cheaper during the off-season. Local destinations like Myrtle Beach are especially cheap, because they get most of their business in the summer.

4. It’s time for Brewvival

No one loves beer more than college students! Brewvival is the yearly celebration of the low country’s finest breweries selection of beers. There’s also a bunch of different food trucks and live music at the event. This is basically the perfect place to shake the winter blues.

5. And Valentines Day!

OK, some people might disagree, but Valentines Day can be fun no matter what your relationship status! If you have a significant other then try something new- not just the stuffy formal dinner-for-two routine.

Also if you’re single, don’t wallow the day away. Get your girls together instead and go out on the town to celebrate your freedom! Or if you really can’t rally, have all of your friends togther to binge on dessert and feel the girl power love.
