4 Quick & Easy Hairstyles for a Girl on the Go

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C of C chapter.

As a girl who is in a hurry the majority of the time, I can’t always spend more than 10 minutes on my hair. This means I need a few go-to hairstyles that are fast and easy to do, so that I still look presentable while cutting down on my time spent on my hair. Here are 4 quick and easy hairstyles to use when you’re crunched for time and still want to look put together.

Milkmaid braids

This is one of my favorite go-to hairstyles because it takes less than 5 minutes and it looks much more complicated than it really is. Start out by making two normal pigtail braids and securing them with small rubber bands. Next, take one braid and pull it over the top of your head and bobby pin it to the other side. Then cross the other braid over the first one and tuck the end under to hide the rubber band and pin it in place. This style works with curly hair, straight hair, clean hair, or dirty hair.

Braided headband

This hairstyle is done almost exactly like the milkmaid braids, but it takes a tad bit more care to get it to stay. Instead of making two normal pigtail braids, braid a one inch section of hair from behind your ear all the way down on both sides. Then cross both braids over your head and secure them in place behind your ears. You can either let the braids act as a headband to hold your hair back, or you can leave out your bangs. You can also either leave the rest of your hair down or pull it up in a bun or ponytail.

Braids into a Bun

For this hairstyle, begin by parting your hair on either side slightly so that it’s not a center part, but it’s not a deep side part. Next, you will make four small braids. There will be two on the top of your head starting on both sides of your part. You will also need to make two braids on both sides of your head starting just above your ears. After you have secured each braid with a small rubber band, pull your hair, and the braids, into a low, messy bun. This style looks good with or without bangs, so just make it your own.

Hair Bow

The hair bow takes a little more attention to detail to get it perfect, but the basic idea is very simple. Start by pulling your hair into a high ponytail but only pull it halfway through on the last loop so it makes a bun. Next, split the bun in the middle to make the loops of the bow. Take the ends of your hair and cross it over the middle of the bow and bobby pin it in place. Finish the look by wrapping any other ends or stray hairs around the bottom of the bow and pinning them in place so that none of the ends show. Remember, practice makes perfect, and this style might take a few tries to figure it out.
