Mmm… can you smell the pumpkin spice latte in the air? Are you overwhelmed by the orange pumpkins that are literally everywhere?  That can only mean one thing… fall is here!  And with fall comes our beloved Halloween.  The one day a year when you can wear whatever you want and nothing is questioned.  Or, in some cases, the one week a year.  Halloweek is full of outrageous and interesting outfits, but how are you supposed to spend time making costumes when this event falls in the middle of your semester?  Let’s face it, we can’t afford to buy a costume for every day of Halloweek.  Here are 13 last minute costumes to help you live up your Halloween!

1. Red Riding Hood

This one goes without saying.  All you need is a red cape with a hood on it and you have an outfit.  I’d maybe pair it with a dress or some leggings and top if it is chilly.

2. Cat

Okay, we knew this one was coming.  Yes, a cat is very easy and last minute.  Just clip on some ears or slide on a headband and there you go.  You’re a cat.

3. Waldo

If you have a red and white striped shirt, a beanie and some glasses, you’re good to go.   If not, no worries.  You can make it!  Get a plain white t-shirt ($3 at Walmart), some tape, and some red paint.  You can paint your own stripes and have a Waldo outfit for less than $5.

4. Flintstones

For this one, all you need is a t-shirt that is way too big for you.  At the bottom of the shirt, cut a zig-zag pattern.  Depending on who you are, you can add the details for their outfits.  For example, if you are Fred just add a blue tie.

5. Cowgirl

Okay ladies, you don’t have to save your cowboy boots for the next Luke Bryan concert.  Just throw on a flannel, your boots, a hat, maybe some overalls and whatever other accessories you might have.  Easy peasy.

6. Hawaiian Islander

This one you can get away with most of the things you already own.  Pick out an outfit and throw on a flower button up.  Done.  If you want to step up your game I suggest adding a grass skirt or maybe a flower headband.

7. Sandy from Grease

This might be one of the easiest.  Put together some black leggings, a black top, and some red shoes.  Don’t have red shoes? No problem!  Just whip out that red paint again and paint some old heels (Goodwill has a nice selection)!  Curl your hair and brush your curls to top off the look.

8. Burglar/ Bank Robber

So, this one might be a little basic, but very easy at that.  If you have a black and white striped shirt, a black beanie, and some black leggings, you’re set. To make the look more fun, have a friend dress up as a cop!

9. Rosie the Riveter

Chambray is in this fall and is a great piece to have in your wardrobe.  If you have one, then you can easily become Rosie the Riveter!  I would wear some leggings with the shirt and a red bandana to top it off.

10. Starbucks Cup

Ladies, there is most likely a white dress somewhere in the back of your closet.  Go online, print out the Starbucks logo, tape it to your dress to easily become a coffee cup.

11. Tourist

Straw hats, Chacos with socks, maps, and some type of island shirt will make you the perfect tourist outfit.  Bonus points if you make a confused facial expression all night.

12. Stick figure

If you’re going to an event where the lights are off, this idea is perfect.  Wear whatever you want and tape glow sticks along your arms, legs, neck, stomach, and head if possible.  When the lights are out, everyone will see your luminous outfit.

And finally, when all else fails…

13. A College Student

Throw on some sweats and an oversized t-shirt or hoodie.  Bam, college student. If you would rather go for that “broke” college student look, just pull out the pockets from your sweats.

We all wait till the last minute on Halloween.  At least now you have some go to ideas that won’t really make it look like you waited till the last minute! Happy hauntings, collegiettes!
