Jimmer Fredette named Associated Press’ Player of the Year

After leading the nation in scoring, “the Jimmer” has been named The Associated Press’ Player of the year.
The award is given from a media panel of 65 people. Forty-eight votes were given in favor of Jimmer Fredette. Eleven went to Kemba Walker of Connecticut, Nolan Smith of Duke had 5 votes and Jared Sullinger from Ohio had 1.
Fredette averaged 28.5 per game and led the cougars to the Mountain West Conference title. Fredette is the first BYU player to win the award.
