Top 5 Female Indie Artists You NEED in Your Life

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Buffalo chapter.
1.    Marian Hill

Most of you know her from her song “Down” featured in Apples commercial about the air pods, but trust me this artist is much more than a one hit commercial tune. She’s been on the music scene for a while and every album and single she puts out just keeps getting better and better.

2.    The Greeting Committee

This new band is hitting the ground running. Although the band is not all females, the lead singer Addie Sartino has such a unique voice that it is almost impossible not to listen to her.

3.    Maggie Rogers

She came on the music scene in 2016 when Pharrell Williams discovered her while she was attending NYU. Her unique take to indie music immediately made people listen and she’s an artist that deserves to be on everyone’s playlist.

4.    Bishop Briggs

This is another artist that has been around for a while but that doesn’t mean that more people shouldn’t listen to them. Their music has a unique way of making you think and want to get up and dance at the same time. This is an artist that you’re going to want to keep on repeat.

This girl can freaking sing. Her most recent single has been co-penned by the Artic Monkey’s Alex Turner. She is from Portland, Oregon and is ready to make the indie scene her own and turn everyone on to her music.

I am a sophomore and Communications major here at the University at Buffalo. I was editor of my high school newspaper, was a research intern at the Radler Foundation located in Fort Worth, Texas, and wrote many articles for Todd Hobin's new website. I'm very into music, movies, and media and am very happy to be a part of the Her Campus community!
