Trivet Jarmond ’15

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Buff State chapter.

Name- Trivet Jarmond (TJ)

Class Status- Sophmore

Graduation Year- 2015

Age- 19

Major- Psychology

Quote to live by- “You have to do the things that other people won’t, in order to have the things that other people don’t.” Arel Moodie

HC: Who is your biggest inspiration?

TJ- Micheal Ealy. He is one smooth guy! He rarely speaks, but when he does it’s always meaningful. He doesn’t talk just to talk, he talks when he has to. Not to mention that the ladies love this guy. I actuallly plan on having the stubble look like he does once my facial hair actually starts growing!

HC: What things have you done or organizations are you a part of on campus and what have you learned from them?

TJ- United Students Government E Board member, active with the USG organizations like AASO, CSO, PASO, BAM and numerous other orgs. The most important thing I have learned is that you can’t please everyone. As long as you can look in the mirror and be satisfied with what is looking back at you, you are doing something right. What you see in that mirror is the only approval you need at the end of the day.

HC: Why did you come to buff state?

TJ- I came to Buff State because I heard about the diversity here; I also didn’t get into Stony Brook which was my first choice.

HC: What were your best and worst experiences while attending buff state?

TJ- My best experiences were becoming a USG Executive Board member because I had the humbling privilege to hear the voice of the students, and to try to provide the leadership on campus that many people want but don’t have the courage to do. Also going to the SUNY Student Assembly conferences and meeting the leadership in all of the other SUNY schools in New York. Getting a chance to meet the best of the best representatives of every school shows you the competitive nature of New York and is my motivation to strive for excellence every moment of every day of my life. My worst experience was USG not allowing me to run for USG president; I think I could have made some major changes in this school if I was given the opportunity. But everything happens for a reason; when one door closes another one opens.

HC: How would you describe your experience here at buff state?

TJ- I would describe my experience as unique. I love to party, but at the same time I have to watch what I do and say because at the same time I am a representative of Buffalo State. So I would say unique is the best way to describe my experience. Fun and fulfilling would also be a few words I would use because while I am still having fun here, I am not losing focus on what I came here to do.

HC: What do you hope to do when you graduate?

TJ- I am interested in Entrepreneurship so I will probably be working to build business both here and in Canada before I move back down to New York; but in the mean time I will be working with corporations in Buffalo that deal with Human Resources and Social Psychology. Marketing, advertising, stuff like that. If all else fails, I’ll be pushing for Medical school for Psychiatry.

HC: What is your biggest motivation to continue on as a student here at buff state?

TJ- Biggest motivation to continue at Buffalo State: The fact that I have roots here. I have students here that look up to me even though I am a sophomore. I have built friendships that may last a lifetime and I have become the person that I am today because of Buffalo State. I have an obligation to uplift this school and make sure people know of the opportunity that lies in a place like this; where diversity and leadership can help mold a person into someone that can do great things. I will continue here because Buff State has made me the person I am today. Someone who wants to get things done and enjoy life at the same damn time.

HC: What advice do you have for girls at buff state?

TJ- Hmmm…When you first meet a guy that you like, give him space. Let him want to chase you. If you see that he is not chasing you, bait him every now and then. Send him a cute text or flirt with him a little bit when you see him. Don’t hound him! And if you do get him, still give him his space so that he can handle his business! Don’t think that just because you are in a relationship that he now needs to devote all his time to you. Let him make his moves, but at the same time compliment his swag. Be there when he needs you and hold him down when he is at a low point, and celebrate with him when he is at his high point. I saw this saying on Facebook once: “A woman should make a man’s d*** hard, not his life.” True Story.
