It’s homecoming at Buff State! That means tons of events, union specials, free giveaways, and of course, the homecoming king and queen competition. Here’s a guide to the week’s events.
TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 26TH
12:15 pm – Prelims for King and Queen competition as well as the Lip Sync Competition. You can sign up at the Student Union Information Desk, Student Life in Union room 400 or at the Sports Arena room 232.
THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 29TH
Noon – Banner Competition, Judging will be held in the Union Quad. You can register on behalf of a student organization or compete to show school pride and spirit. Register at the Student Union Information Desk, Student Life in Union room 400 or at the Residence Life office in Porter Hall.
12:15pm – Pep Rally
Semi finals for Lip Sync competition will be held live in Perry Quad! Also enjoy a free chicken barbeque sponsored by United Students Government (USG).
6:30 pm – King and Queen Finals/ Lips Sync Finals will be held at the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall.
FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 30TH
1:00 pm to 3:00 pm – Campus Food Drive. Call 878-6514 to help or donate!
9:30 pm – Homecoming Fest will be held in the Student Union. This is a new Homecoming event that includes Buff State’s famous build-a-Bengal venue, a mechanical bull, photo booths, carnival food, great music and more!
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 1ST
8:30 am – Wegmans’ Shopping Cart Float Competition will be held in the Burchfield-Penny Lot. Students, Faculty and Staff turn shopping carts, courtesy of Wegmans, into a homecoming float.
9:45 am – Homecoming parade. Join the campus community in this mile long parade along Elmwood Avenue. The parade will go to Bidwell parkway, back down Elmwood and on to campus, finishing at the Sports Arena.
10:30 am – Student Tailgate Party
Following the parade, this tailgating party will be held at the sports arena prior to the football game. Come out. Get pumped for the Buff State Bengals football game against William Patterson. Enjoy free pizza, courtesy of Mister Pizza’s, Pepsi, live music and more.
Noon- Football Game at Coyer Field.
Be sure to wear your Black and Orange while you cheer on the Bengals!! Tickets are free for students and $5 for the public.
4:00 pm – Men’s Soccer at Coyer Field
This will take place immediately after the football game plus admissions is free! Show the soccer Bengals love too!
7:00pm to 11:00 pm – Homecoming Carnival presented by the USG at Lot G.
This long running tradition will include rides, food and music for Buff State students. Must have ID in order to enjoy this free event.
