Lazy Girl’s Guide to Halloween Dress Up

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bucknell chapter.

Don’t have the time and/or energy to put together a “wow” costume? With the addition of a simple head accessory, creating a costume can become effortless!

But, how many times are we going to put on a little black dress and some ears? Here are some alternative headwear accessories to turn any basic outfit into an instant Halloween costume.

1. Mask-arade

An elaborate eye mask can be worn to express infinite costumes. Additionally, modeling a mask is also a costume in itself. Wear a mask with your favorite outfit to instantly put together a no-sweat, trendy costume creation.

2. Basic Bandana

Printed bandanas are a classic go-to costume accessory. Decide on a red and white polka-dot wrap to naturally become Rosie the Riverter.

3. Bow Craze

Place an oversized bow on the top of your head to show off the true gift to the world that you are! Intensify this ensemble by wearing red and green to be an endearing Christmas present.

4. Gold Headwrap Glam

Pair this elegant headpiece with an exotic cat eye and within minutes, become the Egyptian or Greek Goddess of your dreams.

5. Trendy Turban

Place any funky printed headband in this over-the-hair position to strut your stuff as a gypsy or fortuneteller.

6. Lace Headband

The costume labels are endless when it comes to wearing this fancy accessory. With an all black or white outfit, you can be a flapper, a princess, or a dancer.

7. Flower Child

Who doesn’t look for the perfect excuse to rock a woodsy flower handband? This trendy headpiece can be paired with multiple outfits to prevail as a flower girl, a hippie, or even as an enchanting fairy.

8. Classic Ears

The easiest and most standard Halloween costume, a simple dress paired with animal ears. Use eyeliner to draw on whiskers for extra embellishment and call it a day.

Putting together a “perfect” Halloween costume may not only be stressful, but also exhausting. With the help of a daring headpiece, however, your favorite basic outfit can instantly turn into a costume spectacle.
