Kitchens On Campus: Where They Are and How to Make At-Home Meals

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bucknell chapter.

Sometimes the same wrap order at the Bison or Mongo Bongo at the Caf can get a little old.  It seems like you’re having the same meal every day, and it’s exhausting.  Sometimes you just want to mix it up a bit, or you even crave your mom’s home-cooked meals.  We feel you.  We will help you find the kitchens on campus and help you to make those at-home meals.

The first problem is finding a kitchen on this campus, and sometimes it seems like they simply don’t exist.  However, if you really hunt for them, they can be found.  Besides the obvious kitchens in the mods and gateways, there are secret kitchens located in Smith, Swartz, Kress, Trax and the various affinity housing options (and after searching for these, I’m sure there are many more on campus that I haven’t yet found!).

If you’re craving one of your favorite home-cooked meals, call up the ’rents and have them email you the recipe.  Sometimes these seemingly gourmet-quality recipes can be very challenging.  If you’re up for the challenge, go for it!  But if you’re like me and are domestically challenged, particularly in the kitchen, a simpler recipe might be desirable (and needed).  For a simpler version, you can always look up recipes on sites like epicurious.com.  They have recipes for practically everything, at all levels.

After cooking your homemade meal, the best part is sitting down to enjoy it.  You deserve

Sarah Dubow graduated from school in 2013 and is a Digital Strategist at Marina Maher Communications in New York City. After serving as Campus Correspondent at Bucknell University, she is so excited to continue being a part of the Her Campus team! Besides traversing the city and trying to figure out what being a "real person" really means, Sarah loves long walks on the beach, sipping pina coladas, and getting caught in the rain (kidding!). Real favorites include traveling, writing, kickboxing, and making up ridiculous lyrics to the latest songs. She absolutely loves anything that involves cupcakes, butterflies, glitter, and anything Parisian and specializes in baking with far too much chocolate and obsessively watching shows bound to be cancelled after the first season. Though the long term path for this post-grad collegiette remains unclear, she's looking forward to all the new 20-something adventures that await her!
