Halloween Costumes that Don’t Depend on Your Size

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bucknell chapter.

Once a year, we have one night to dress however crazy, scary, goofy, or stupid we want, without judgment. The process of choosing the right Halloween costume can be stressful or a simply annoying task that you put off until the last minute.  Here are some ideas for Halloween costumes that don’t depend on your size!

Get MummifiedAll you really need to make this costume is long sleeve top and skirt, tights, cheesecloth/bandage material. To make the bandages fade to an off-white color, soak the edges in coffee! You can make the costume tighter or looser depending on the wrapping. You can tie and pin the cloth/bandages to affix them to the costume.

Go GreekTogas are not only cheap (using a bed sheet), but they also don’t depend on your size. You can add accessories to the look to make it more glamorous (gold tassels, crown, bracelets, headbands, etc.). Here is a helpful YouTube link to learn how to create a toga and be a Greek goddess!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_4hWqIW–rQ

InstaCostumeIf the mummy costume is too form-fitting for your taste, try incorporating social media into your costume. The Instagram costume is a quirky idea, and your costume doubles as an activity—it’s a blast to take pictures with! You will essentially be a walking photobooth. Also, you’ll have something to look forward to when you upload pictures from Halloween parties.

Franzia FriendsIf you’re of legal age, you might choose to dress up as a well-known beverage. All you need for the Franzia costume is tissue paper and a clear trashbag! It’s a cute and creative idea, and you can pull off the look better with a friend or two. You’re guaranteed to get a few laughs and LOTS of smiles.

Jelly Belly CostumeIf you still want to be in a clear trash bag but not filled with “wine,” you can try out the Jelly Belly costume. All you need is an assortment of colorful balloons, a clear trash bag, and cardboard for the paper logo. Top it off with some ribbon if you prefer!

Halloween is about expressing yourself, and you do not necessarily have to show off every curve of your body to do that. If you have a rocking bod and want to show it off, go for it! If you prefer to wear something not so clingy or revealing, you can still be creative and cute! Some of the best costumes aren’t figure flattering in the least bit. Whether or not you want to show off your best assets this year, have fun with it, be creative, and enjoy Halloween!
