Every year, my first and most important purchase is a planner. Organizing my tasks in a small book of dates and times helps me remember the most important elements of my day. Honestly, the cuter my planner is the more I want to use it!

Being organized is a key element to success, especially as a student. Use a planner to keep track of your most important to-dos and reminders. I, for one, cannot live without mine!

1. It helps you stay organized.

Being organized in college is key, especially with the multitude of assignments, tests, and papers that will be thrown your way. Find an easy and effective organizational system within your planner to make it easily readable. I like to use highlighters, sticky notes, and different colored pens to indicate essential reminders.

2.  It keeps you on task.

Updating your planner on a daily basis reminds you of the different assignments or commitments you have within the week. I find my work to be more manageable when I map out my schedule. You can never forget an assignment when you have them all written down!

3.  It reduces stress.

With only the flip of a page, you can check how many days till your big midterm or what time your club meeting is. Your schedule can feel more manageable and less stressful once it is laid out on paper. Checking off a completed task makes you feel accomplished.

4. It helps prioritize and manage time.

An organized planner helps you notice what days you will have the most time and what days you will be crunching for a second. Time management is essential to having a well-balanced college life. School is hard and very consuming, and if we aren’t smart with our schedule, we can be left with no time for anything more than going to class and studying.

I for one am thankful for my planner and the way it has taught me to manage my time and course load. It is my sanity book and has given me a great outlook on time management. Make a planner your best bud this semester! Get organizing!
