Why Our Best Friends Are Our Best Role Models

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Many of us love reading about our favorite celebrities and socialites in magazines, scrolling through their Instagram’s, and overall, keeping up with their lives through various channels of social media. Why? Because we look up to them! Whether we admire their style, their accomplishments, their philanthropy, or their talents, they are our role models.

In a world obsessed with those in the spotlight, we often forget that our best role models don’t have to be famous. Instead, we can find inspiration in our best friends! We love our friends, and of course we admire them, so why wouldn’t we look up to them? There’s a million reasons why our best friends can be our best role models too!

1. We Can Relate to Our Besties

Unlike celebrities, whose lives are usually pretty different than our own, our best friends are typically going through the same things we are. So, it can be inspiring to see how our friends balance their passions and goals with the other obligations in their lives that we can relate to like school, jobs, family, and friends.

2. Our Best Friends Are Always There to Give Us Advice

Not only are our friends always able to inspire us, but they are also always available to give advice!  We can both admire our best friend’s success and turn to them when we need help achieving our own goals.  Plus, our besties know us better than anyone else, so their advice is sure to be on point!

3. Our Best Friends Are Our Biggest Supporters

No matter what your goals and aspirations are, your best friend will always be you #1 fan, cheering you on through anything and everything.  Having someone you admire also provide you with endless encouragement is one of the greatest rewards of having a best friend!

4. Our Besties Have Accomplished Amazing Things

Whether our best friends are amazing artists, marathon runners, incredible dancers, talented singers, accomplished athletes, or valedictorians, all of our best friends deserve to be celebrated!  We can learn so much from what our gal pals achieve, and they can inspire us everyday to reach our own goals!
