The Top 10 Most Scrumptious Brunch Eats

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Growing up, the most common phrase you hear on any school day is, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day!” Your mom, shoving a granola bar into your backpack, recites the phrase; or maybe your teachers do, saying you should wake up earlier in order to eat. However, I’d like to argue that breakfast is not the most important meal of the day. Brunch, the amazingly delicious, slightly later combination of breakfast and lunch is the best, most important meal out there. Not all foods are created equal, though. Here is my definitive ranking of the best food to get when you’re hardcore brunching.

10. Breakfast Burrito

All of my favorite breakfast foods wrapped up in a pita? Delicious and portable. Sign me up.

9. Omelet

The ability to customize your perfect omelet? Genius. I’m a fan of veggies only, but this quick and easy breakfast order is great at leaving you satisfied.

8. Quiche

As someone who is clearly a BIG fan of eggs, it’s no surprise that I love quiche: it’s basically an egg pie. An amazing staple for any homemade brunch, I like my quiche with mushrooms and spinach to fool myself into thinking I’m a little healthy.

7. Banana Walnut Waffles

Walnuts and bananas. Two of the best things in the world — unless you have a nut allergy, then I’m sorry for this. But honestly, my friends make fun of me for how often I order this meal. Also, waffles are definitely better than pancakes. Make sure you have the right brunch opinions, people.

6. Eggs, Home Fries and Toast

I had to go with a classic order for number six — don’t even pretend you’ve never gotten up on a Saturday or Sunday craving plain and simple eggs and home fries. My favorite is when the eggs are poached, and you can be a mess unashamedly.

5. Cinnamon French Toast

I don’t even need to explain myself for this one. Sugar and syrup may make for a dessert-like brunch, but it’s the best for an incurable sweet tooth.

4. Quesadillas

No judgment! An unconventional choice, but no doubt one of my favorites. My obsession with quesadillas and guacamole does not have to be unfairly restricted to dinner. Besides, you could always get a breakfast quesadilla!

3. Egg Sandwich

A quick boost for if you need to get out of the house, or if you’re going through that drive-through on the way to work. Although I’m not the biggest fan of ham, cheese, and egg sandwiches, I can’t deny their convenience. And also egg sandwiches with avocado? God bless.

2. Avocado Toast

If you can’t already tell, I am in love with avocado. Therefore, this list would be incomplete without a shout out to the perfect invention of avocado toast. A little lime juice and some poached eggs, and you’re set to begin craving avocados 24/7.

1. Eggs Benedict

And now for the Holy Grail of brunch meals: eggs benedict. The most scrumptious of all meals, every element is perfect — the poached egg, the rich hollandaise sauce, and the slightly toasted English muffin. Other additions, such as bacon or salmon, only serve to garnish the greatest brunch meal of all.

So, why tirelessly eat breakfast at 7:00 a.m. when you can get brunch at 11:00? I know, I know — we’re all busy and that’s hard. So, treat yourself when you can to a fabulous brunch!
