For me, shopping has always been about getting the best bang for your buck. That’s why I adore accessories because they can completely transform your outfit into a totally new look without breaking the bank. Add a bold necklace to your basic tank top and skinny jeans and you will instantly look like a million bucks. Sounds like a win-win situation right? Here are some of summer’s must-have accessories, all for under $10! (Use the money you save to splurge on that new swimsuit you’ve been eyeing- I know I will!)
1. Statement Necklace
First, you need a statement necklace in your life. If there is no other accessory you decide to buy, please invest in one of these. If you are struggling with making your outfit look a little more fashion-forward, a statement necklace is a very simple way to do that without spending a ton of money. Plus, there are so many necklaces in beautiful, bold, bright hues that these pieces are absolutely ideal to start off your summer wardrobe.
2. Cool Headwear
Everyone needs a straw fedora or a floppy hat! No, actually though, if you don’t have one of these yet you need to get one ASAP as nothing says summer more than a straw hat. However, if hats aren’t really your thing (even though I don’t know how they could not be) there are tons of other ways to accessorize your head. You can really make your look unique and personalize your outfit with a cool piece of headwear. Go bohemian with a cool head scarf or urban with a neon beanie. You could even channel Blair Waldorf circa early seasons of Gossip Girl with a headband or bow! The options are endless with these types of accessories.
3. Bold Rings
Rings are perfect because different types can add a completely different element to your outfit. Oversized cocktail rings are very chic and add an air of sophistication while stacked rings and knuckle rings add an edge to your look. Rings are definitely a huge trend right now and designers are getting really creative with them. Recently I even came across nail rings which literally only cover your nail. I’m not sure I’m completely sold on those quite yet, but give them a try too. Either way, with the huge variety, it is super easy to find one that appeals to you and they are so inexpensive that you can buy several! A little hand candy can go a long way.
Sunglasses
I’m from the Caribbean so for me summer means endless beach days and there is no way I could go through the summer without at least one pair of sunglasses. These are an item that perhaps you may want to splurge on since a good pair can last you a very long time. However, not everyone sees sunglasses as a huge investment so there are plenty cheap options that look just as good as the high end brands. Make sure you try on different types though, sunglasses are one item that it pays to go with what suits your face rather than what’s trendy; trust me.
