It’s no secret that BU has some pretty notable alumni. But, more often than not, the powerful women alumni of BU are not given the credit they deserve (and no, I’m not talking about JennaMarbles here). So move over Beyonce! It’s time for a new girl crush! Science READ MORE

7 Things I Wish Were Socially Acceptable

By Melissa Fiszner
March 8, 2013 - 12:00pm

Picture this: You are walking down Comm. Ave when, suddenly, your thong is out of place – you fidget with your legs to naturally re-position it… you fail. You must pick that wedgie, immediately.  You are walking down Comm. Ave when, suddenly, your jeans feel tight around your thighs, your bra is driving you crazy, your belt suffocates you, and those heels – no words can explain the pain you feel… You fantasize, if only I were naked! You are walking down Comm. Ave when, suddenly, in the midst of a cruel girl-drama story you get the urge to belt out your best evil laugh – somehow, you manage to control yourself. What do these three scenarios have in common? READ MORE

How to Throw the Ultimate Arm Party

By Rima Butto
March 8, 2013 - 9:00am

As much as I love a good statement necklace, my favorite way to accessorize these days is with some serious arm candy, or what the Man Repeller notoriously termed an “arm party.” But you don’t have to be a celebrity blogger to rock this trend. Here's how to planning the perfect jewelry soirée: 1. Shop at unexpected places. Don’t limit yourself to jewelry and clothing stores to buy great bracelets. Some of my favorite pieces have come from street vendors, vintage shops and farmers’ markets. An amazing cuff might even be hiding in your mom’s closet (just make sure she doesn’t still wear it!). READ MORE

The Freshman Files: Why Warren is the Place to Be

By Tyler Boudreaux
March 7, 2013 - 9:00am

On paper, the logistics of Warren Towers makes it every parent’s ideal freshmen dormitory. It’s safe, governed by rules, houses over 14,000 freshmen, and is centrally located to the main schools and colleges. It offers same-sex floors, Communication major floors, quiet rooms, music rooms, and caters to a lot of incoming different personalities. Warren was the place my parents felt the most comfortable with me living on my own, and for this exact reason, I was hesitant to choose it. In the event of leaving home, I wanted to live on my own and have complete control over my life, and what I saw in Warren Towers was an extended version of high school. READ MORE

The Freshman Files: Why West is Best

By Shealyn Lonergan
March 7, 2013 - 9:00am

You've been accepted to Boston University (congrats!!)—now what? I know what you're thinking, trust me; I was in your shoes what feels like only yesterday. My biggest concern as soon as I decided to attend BU was not what classes to take, or clubs to join, but where and with whom am I going to live? As a freshman, it’s recommended you choose between Warren Towers (consisting of A, B, and C Towers) and West Campus (including Claflin, Sleeper, and Rich Halls) because a lot of underclassmen live in these two places and they are very typical college dorm style residences. However, one of the two reigns above the other, and that is West Campus. I am here to explain to you and persuade you why West campus has ultimately deserved its title as "West is Best!"...
