Ladies, meet your gorgeous fellow BU sophomore Louise Bertrand from the French southeast costal city of Nice (pronounced Nis) on the Mediterranean Sea. She comes to us straight from the amorous country of romance and love. Besides charming the world with her adorable French accent and big ocean blue eyes, Louise enjoys how cosmopolitan and international the city of Boston is. As an International Relations major, she treasures the flamboyant diversity of students that come together in this metropolitan city of Boston and enjoys how open they are to new ideas.

Although she often dreams of basking on the French seaside back home, she enjoys everything Boston has to offer. Her favorite thing about the city is its history and architecture. She adores the old New England buildings, especially the Bostonian brownstones. “I love to walk around and explore Boston. Even though it’s small, there are still so many places I have yet to discover.” She adds that she loves the fact that Harvard, MIT and other college students live in the same area as her because it makes her feel smarter (and can’t we all relate to that?).

But coming from the sultry and exotic country of France, there is a lot Louise can’t wait to get back to. “As cliché as it sounds: what I miss most about France is to freely enjoy an amazing cocktail on a terrace. That’s where all French people gather in the evenings to enjoy their cigarettes and the great weather.” Louise adores the French cuisine. She solely survives on crunchy French baguettes and good wine when she is home. Louise recommends the rosé wines from Provence (the warmest wine region in France located in the south east close to the Mediterranean and Nice), especially during the summer time.

Our femme fatale has big aspirations for the future “I would love to work for the United Nations or another international organization or non-governmental organization after I graduate from BU.” She is the International Project Director for the student-run group Nourish International on campus, which urges social businesses to invest in poverty reduction projects in developing worlds and is a part of the BU International Affairs Association, which is an academic society that focuses on bringing a global perspective to the social sciences.

Although Louise has men kneeling to her feet left and right, she is very picky with the ones she chooses. “Well first he needs to complete three important criteria: strong physical attractiveness (she likes the super tall guys that are well built and have facial hair), intelligence, open-mindedness, humor and a great personality, and lastly: he needs to be thoughtful of others.” The man of her dreams should probably take her to Coldstone Creamery for ice cream or Faneuil Hall because she loves the food there. The chocolate at Max Brenner makes her melt as well.

Louise’s favorite French word (which she uses all the time and insist everyone should know) is “Putain”. Although the word cannot be translated directly into English, it is some form of mild curse word. “French people use it a lot because they whine all the time.” So the next time you flunk your French exam or the dining hall isn’t serving foie gras, you will know what to say!
