(Last-Minute) S.B.B. Fitness Plan

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

March is just around the corner, which means Spring Break is in close range. Some coeds might be traveling only 20 minutes outside of Boston and others might be flying for 6 hours to get to their vacation spot. Wherever the destination, you want to arrive in style and look your best. If you want to play hard, you have to work hard for the S.B.B or Spring Break Bod! Since it’s tough to workout outside due to Arctic temperatures, you can easily download a fitness app, watch a YouTube workout video, or join a FitRec class, while staying warm indoors and burning calories.

Here are four fitness workouts that will whip (excuse my “50 Shades”) your body into shape!

1. The 7 Minute Workout

Only seven minutes? Yes! This program is not only quick, but also satisfactory. The workout regime includes various exercises, including jumping jacks, squats, push-ups, crunches, and many more. Each exercise is 30 seconds and rest time in between exercises is 10 seconds. No time to waste! You got a body to shape! If you want to increase the load, you can repeat the activities two or three times. (Upgrade to Pro to get different exercises).

2. Daily Ab Workout

If you want to tone your abs, this app is a great resource! The app offers several ab exercises and a virtual instructor, who shows you how to workout properly; there is also a position description below each video. If Betty White can werk, so can you! If you want to raise the bar a little more, download the sibling apps, which are arm and leg workouts.

3. YouTube Dance Workouts

To pump up the fun, search for entertaining and challenging workout videos on the Tube. There is a plethora of exercsies from hip-hop, zumba, Victoria’s Secret model-themed to bootcamp. No matter the video you choose, make sure you sweat!

4. FREE Morning FitRec Classes

In addition to recreational activities (Rock Wall, Swimming) at the gym, FitRec offers FREE early bird classes, such as yoga and total body conditioning. Gym members, which includes BU students, pay no fee! The only cost is managing time in your schedule to attend weekday sessions. Take your time and find your balance. FitRec promises, “Classes are always in session.” Visit the website for registration details.

In between classes and group meetings, find time to watch a 30-minute workout video or try to block out seven minutes in the day for a quick exercise. There is still time to get fit and healthy! NO EXCUSES.
