Daniella Seidl (COM ’16)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Tonight, Daniella Seidl will be caking on some make-up, arranging her hair with gel, putting on her costume, and embodying a new persona. Halloween party in a frat basement? Not quite. Instead, she’ll be starring in BU Stage Troupe’s Alice in Wonderland.

This campus celeb will be, in fact, a real celeb this Halloweekend. Daniella will be playing three distinct roles – the Cheshire Cat, Humpty Dumpty, and Dodo Bird – in the play with seven other actors.

“This is the first big play I’m doing in college,” she says excitedly. “I was really involved in theater in high school and even before that. Plus, Alice in Wonderland is one of my favorite books!”

You may think that Daniella is dedicating large amounts of time to rehearse (these past weeks rehearsal took place every day at late hours) because she is in CFA or is receiving credit for the performance – wrong; she does it for fun!

Still undecided about her major and minor, Daniella is a sophomore in COM considering a focus on Film & TV, but that may change at any time.

“I have a lot of other interests,” she explains. “I decided to take a different class in the arts each semester. So, for instance, I took an acting class on my first semester, then a drawing class, and now I’m taking a dance course.”

Travel and exposure to various cultures could be a reason why Daniella is so fond of the arts. Born in Miami, she later lived in Venezuela, moved back to Miami, finished High School in Israel, and then decided to take a gap year, which she spent studying fine arts in Florence and then interning at Fashion TV in Tel Aviv, finally moving to Boston, where she found her theater niche.

Besides being active in the theater world, Daniella participated in the Meor Maimonides Fellowship Program, speaks Spanish, English, and Hebrew, and has been exploring every side of Boston with her brand new bike.

Come watch her star in Alice in Wonderland on October 31, November 1, and November 2 at 8 PM in the Student Theater at Agganis. Put simply by Daniella herself, “The play is awesome and everyone should come see it!”

After living most of her life in the polluted, traffic-filled streets of Sao Paulo, Brazil that reverberate ambulance sirens, Meli knew she wanted a city-campus college experience and made her way to BU, College of Communication. With a profound interest in the human psych, love for words, and unpredictable multicultural background, she knew advertising was the field that would merge all of her passions into one. Her desire to travel the world, getting lost in exotic cities, tracing narrow cobbled streets, and the thrill of the unknown, is similar to what lures her to advertising: the dynamic and flexible characteristic of the field, which forces it to constantly adapt to emerging social trends. With two years left to complete her degrees in Advertising and Psychology, she plans on spending a semester abroad interning in London, diffusing her Brazilian culture through her campus, eating chocolate and blogging about travel.
