Every year, Asian cultural groups at Boston University partner together to hold Asian Food Nation. Some participating organizations include: Asian Student Union, Taiwanese American Student Association, Chinese Student Association, and Hong Kong Student Association. This year, the 4th annual Asian Food Nation is being hosted by BU’s aKDPhi (alpha Kappa Delta Phi) sorority.

Alexandra Lam, a senior studying psychology at BU, is currently the president of aKDPhi. Her previous leadership roles include vice president and alumni chair. “Being in aKDPHI has been a good experience because it expands your networks and friendships and helps you build leadership skills,” she said. She mentioned it shaping a lot of who she is today, and noted that she feels more prepared taking on leadership positions in her career after graduation.

She named local businesses like Nud Pob and Dolphin Bay having dishes at this year’s event, which is this Thursday November 16th, from 7pm-9pm at the George Sherman Union. Tickets are ONLY $5, or $7 at the door. You can get them here!

Attendees vary, obviously a lot of Asian students love the event, but non-Asian students from the participating organizations also attend. Lam indicated that holding the event at at the GSU also captivates the attention of people passing by, who usually end up joining as well. She also noted that the event was a huge success last year, and she’s excited to try a little bit of everything this year. Foods that will be served range from scallion pancakes to pad Thai, stir fry to egg rolls.

Besides Asian Food Nation, Asian cultural groups on campus also partner to host the Moonlight Ball at the beginning of the year, another joint event that is held annually. aKDPhi also just hosted their annual Mr. Pink, an all-male pageant to raise money for Avon’s Breast Cancer Crusade.
