8 Makeup Products Launching This Spring That You Need to Add to Your Collection!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Spring is finally starting to make its reappearance, and soon we will finally be able to put those long winter months behind us. The temperature is slowly starting to warm up, the days are getting longer, and that that itch for the freedom of summer has come back around with a vengeance. With each new season, we get new makeup and fashion trends, and a bunch of great launches and collections by some of our favorite brands. Spring 2018 is no different; there are some great new products on the market that absolutely scream spring. I’ve rounded up a list of eight products that I think should be on your radar to help banish those winter blues!

1.) Kat Von D eyebrow products:

Kat Von D has been killing the makeup game with her impressive range of foundations, concealers, eyeshadows, and lipsticks. However, Kat had yet to expand into eyebrow products: until now. Launching this April, Kat Von D is launching a plethora of new products in an awesome range of colors. The first product we’ll get is Super Brow, a long-wearing brow pomade that comes in an impressive 16 shades, with seven neutral shades and a few rainbow shades as well. Seeing as brightly colored hair has been trendy for quite some time now, it’s mind-blowing that no one else has launched colored brow products! There will also be a white shade to act as a mixer, and a “Bleach” shade if the editorial, “no-brow” look is more your thing. Along with these rainbow pomades, we are also being blessed with seven shades of Brow Struck Dimension Powder, which is slightly reflective in order to make a more natural, realistic looking brow. Additionally, the brand will release Signature Brow, a fine tipped pencil that will also come in seven shades. Either way, I’m super excited to get my hands on these products come spring; it sounds like Kat has spent a lot of time perfecting the formula, so I expect nothing but the best!

2.) NARS wanted cheek palettes:

This limited edition palette is perfect for spring. Blush was never something I was into a few years ago, but now I absolutely love a strong blush, and I think it’s gonna be a big trend this spring! There’s something so youthful and coquettish about a strong sweep of blush laid across your cheeks. With a nice mixture of matte and shimmer, and a variety of shades in both palettes–from your standard coral and rose colors to something more unique like their matte lavender shade in Volume I, or the cool reddish gold color in Volume II–these all-encompassing cheek palettes are perfectly curated to give you the perfect flush!

3.) NARS Wanted Eyeshadow Palette:

NARS has really stepped up their game with this eyeshadow palette; I always liked a lot of their single shades, but they never really had a palette that spoke to me until this one dropped. It’s full of super trendy warm tones, with lots warm browns, oranges, and deep reds, but it has a couple unique statement shades thrown in there as well. One that really caught my eye was the glittery greenish gold; I can’t wait to put that all over my lid! Furthermore, the packaging is stunning. If your a packaging junky like me, you’re definitely going to want to have this eyeshadow palette on full display on your vanity this spring. NARS continues to prove that they are at the top of their game!

4.) Urban Decay Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Gloss:

I’ve said a couple of times now: lip gloss is most definitely making a comeback. And now, with so many spring launches showcasing dazzling glosses, I feel justified in my predictions. But this isn’t your early 2000’s, super sticky and frosty gloss that was so cool at the time. No, glosses have definitely come back revamped and better than ever, and Urban Decay really did the damn thing with the launch of their Hi-Fi Shine Ultra Cushion Lip Gloss collection! With a ton of unique shades and four different finishes (metallic, holographic, cream, and sheer), you can really amp up your look with these super moisturizing, plumping, and long-wearing glosses. Go for something classic with Fuel, described as a “light neutral nude.” Or, pack a little more punch with Goldmine, a metallic bright gold. With this spring launch, prepare to fall back in love with lip gloss!

5.) Violet Voss The Rainbow Eyeshadow Palette:

I’ve been wearing super bright, colorful eyeshadow for some time now, but only now is it really appropriate with the weather warming up. So if you’re bold, jump right into it and embrace colorful eyeshadow with the stunning Violet Voss palette. The quality of Violet Voss eyeshadows is unmatched, and the shades in this palette are incredible. They are highly pigmented and buttery soft, perfect for any crazy eyeshadow look. I honestly can’t choose my favorite; there’s Seaform, a beautiful seafoam green that absolutely screams my name. But I’m also super drawn to Peach, a duochrome peachy shade. Seriously, all of these colors are incredible, and perfect for the upcoming warmer months. Looking even farther ahead, all of these colors would be perfect for festival season! Either way, you’ve got to get your hands on this show-stopping palette!

6.) BITE Beauty Matte Creme Lip Crayon:

If you’re still not sold on glossy lips and are still a matte lip person at heart, check out BITE Beauty’s Matte Creme Lip Crayons. These are highly pigmented, long-wearing crayons perfect for easy application. Plus they come in a ton of spring-appropriate colors, like Pink Lady, a bright fuchsia pink, Blood Orange, an awesome bright orange shade, and Sugarcane, a super pretty pale pink. These are a great way to make a statement; all you’d need is a swipe of some bold color paired with clean, dewy skin and a soft brow, and you’re good to go! A simple way to look polished and put together.

7.) Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette:

If the intensity of the  Violet Voss palette isn’t really your style, make sure to check out one of the hottest launches of the spring:  the Anastasia Beverly Hills Soft Glam Palette. With the success of the Modern Renaissance palette and the controversy of the Subculture Palette, all eyes were on Anastasia to see how this newest addition would fare. And the brand did not disappoint, proving critics wrong and delighting fans by producing a beautiful neutral palette full in their signature hyper-pigmented formula. It’s full of soft, warm, and rosy shades that can create a variety of eye looks. It has a couple of there well-loved permanent shades in there, like Orange Soda, Tempera, and Cyprus Umber, but there are some stunning new shades that have been thrown into the mix as well! Seriously, this palette is perfect for makeup junkies and beginners alike, as it has everything you might need in one handy palette.

8.) Tarte Make Every Moment Count Cheek Palette:

If your not looking to spend as much money on a NARS blush kit, check out Tarte’s super pretty cheek set. The Make Every Moment Count Cheek palette comes with three beautiful blushes: two mattes, one shimmery. The Amazonian Clay blushes are some of my favorite blush formulas; they have some serious staying power and some great pigment. The ingredients are also super simple and good for you; your not gonna get any weird chemicals or ingredients in Tarte products! Plus, the packaging comes with a super inspiring quote on it, which Tarte says was chosen by their loyal followers on Instagram.

Spring gives allows us to have fun again with makeup; no more severe dark tones or drab neutrals. Everything is lighter and brighter in the spring, and the makeup and product launches really reflect that. If you like to wear black turtlenecks all year long and rock a smoky eye 365 days a year, good for you! But if you’re looking for something a little fresher, a little more fun, then look no farther than these eight products. Happy Spring!
