This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryn Mawr chapter.

Every September, New York City becomes even more crowded than normal–full of hustle and bustle. When this happens, you know that Fashion Week is upon us! The 2017 cycle was jam-packed with gorgeous new fashion and beauty trends. However, what drew everyone’s attention the most were the huge names that are bound to become even more iconic with time. Here are just a few of the most influential people featured in this year’s New York Fashion Week.

Kaia Gerber

The daughter of supermodel royalty, Cindy Crawford, this young woman made quite a splash at her first ever Fashion Week. At just sixteen years old, Kaia walked in Calvin Klein’s and Alexander Wang’s shows, and was even granted the honor of closing Marc Jacobs’s show. The spitting image of her mother, Kaia’s beauty and amazing runway skills were on full display at Fashion Week. There’ll definitely be many more opportunities to see her in the fashion world in times to come!

Rihanna

Is there anything Rihanna can’t do? The singer, actress and activist can now add designer to her list of accolades. She just recently released her new beauty line, Fenty Beauty, which has been generating tons of praise for its inclusive range of foundation shades. During Fashion Week, Rihanna hosted the Fenty x Puma show with an amazing BMX motorcycle theme! The clothes were a gorgeous rendition of sportswear designed for the modern woman. Fashion and beauty design are certainly part of Rihanna’s list of talents.

Kendall Jenner

Fashion’s It Girl for the past few years, Kendall continued her reign with a plethora of shows walked in and attention received for her street style. She wore the most talked about piece of Marc Jacobs’s show, a sheer yellow top, and modeled a gorgeous tweed overcoat in the streets of NYC. With campaigns coming up for Alexander Wang and Adidas, Kendall Jenner continues her longevity streak.

Selena Gomez

When you think of Selena Gomez, images of her singing on a stage or acting in Wizards of Waverly Place might come to mind. However, Selena has even more talents! She’s also a producer on the critically acclaimed show Thirteen Reasons Why and models for Coach. Her modelling for Coach is what made her so influential this past Fashion Week. She was seen front row at the show, wearing a beautiful tan leather jacket that meshed perfectly with the prairie vibe Coach was aiming for. With the models wearing cowboy shirts, prairie dresses, satin slips and stripes, it was an all American classic show that Selena brought even more positive attention too. The exclusive bag she designed for Coach, entitled ‘The Selena Grace Bag,’ will be sure to be flying off the shelves by now!

NYFW is always an intensely amazing time and this year was no exception. These are a nominal amount of the names you’ll be seeing in the weeks to come in the fashion world!
