3 Free Things to Do in Washington, DC

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryn Mawr chapter.

Looking for something to do this spring break? (Or for any weekend getaway really.) Well look no further! Here are three of my favorite things to do when I’m in DC, which is just a three hour bus drive from Philadelphia!

National Mall

Take a picture with the Washington Monument, the tallest building in Washington, DC! The whole mall stretches from the US Capitol Building to the Lincoln Memorial. In between that you’ll find many FREE memorials and museums along the way.

DC’s Chinatown

Take a picture in front of the beautiful Friendship Arch in DC’s Chinatown. You’ll find some of the best authentic Chinese food the city has to offer. There are also nearby attractions such as the International Spy Museum, National Museum of Women in Arts and the United States Navy Memorial.

Tidal Basin

When the weather is nice, you can hop onto one of the rental boats and paddle your way around the whole basin to get a better view of all the memorials surrounding it. If you go at the right time of the season, you can see all the beautiful cherry blossoms!

These are just three of my favorite attractions in Washington, DC, but there are over a hundred other free attractions in this wonderful city that you can take advantage of. Now what are you waiting for? Go see what DC has to offer!
