Ways College Students Can Help Victims of The Hurricanes

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

We have all seen the horrific hurricanes that have occurred in the last several weeks — Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Irma, and Hurricane Marie have shocked the world and it is important we all come together and help the victims and families who have suffered from these hurricanes.

Here are ways we, as college students, can help the victims of the hurricanes.

Fundraise

Talk to your college about setting up a fundraising event to raise money for the victims. Whether it be a bake sale or a charity run, the options are endless. This is a great activity to do with your friends or a challenge you want to take on individually; do something fun and raise money to help others at the same time!

Donate

We know how busy college gets with endless readings, reports, and exams so if you don’t have time there are sites you can directly donate money to!

Here are some websites you can donate to:

There are many more ways you can donate simply by googling “donate to hurricanes.”

You can even donate using your mobile phone by texting REDCROSS to 90999 to give $10 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief, it is as easy as that to make a difference to someone’s life.

Think and pray for the victims

It is unimaginable what suffering and pain the victims and family of these disasters have endured over the past couple months. Many are without basic necessities and therefore it is vital we do something to help. These events are awful but it is an opportunity for us to come together and find ways in which we can help others and remain grateful for all the blessings we have.

Keep the victims in your prayers and thoughts.
