What is St. Jude?

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, is located in Memphis, Tennessee. Their mission is “Finding cures. Saving lives.” St. Jude is leading the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer. Families never receive a bill for treatment, housing, food, or travel because all the families should be worrying about is the lives of their children. St. Jude alone has increased the survival rate for Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) from 4% from opening in 1962 to 94% today. All of the doctors at St. Jude share their medical notes, research studies, and surgeries to other doctors around the world, so they can try to help all children battling any life threatening disease. Danny Thomas, the founder of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital says “No child should die in the dawn of life.” St. Jude is dedicated to ending the fight against childhood cancer.

Bryant’s History

Every November on a Friday night, Bryant University students come together for an event called “St. Jude Up ‘til Dawn,” where we celebrate all the fundraising efforts everyone has done for the kids of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Each year there is a great turnout, and last year we raised over $73,000. This summer, at the Collegiate Leadership Seminar, won the ‘Standout Event Experience of the Year’ award!! We were awarded on providing an impactful and fun event experience for our participants. This year our goal is to raise $80,000 and get even more students to sign up for this amazing event. This is the 11th annual event and Bryant students have raised close to $300,000 for the kids at St. Jude!! Did you know that the Bryant Men’s Basketball Team had an opportunity to visit the hospital last year?
