Do You Know Who is Performing at Spring Weekend?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

Everyone has been wondering what will be in store for the most anticipated event of the year; the spring weekend concert.  Do you know who will be performing?  This year the Student Programming Board worked very hard to try to make this year’s concert the best Bryant has ever seen.  They were able to get three different artists to come this year.  Timeflies, Kap Slap, and New Boyz are the artists coming this year.  They are all very different with various styles and original songs.

Kap Slap or technically, Jared is currently in his 4th year of the Honors Integrated Business and Engineering 5 year program at Lehigh University.  On the weekends he finds time to tour the country and produce.  He began experimenting with Garageband in late 2009 and released his first “mashup” using Ableton Live 8 in the summer of 2010.  Less than a year later he played his first gig, leading to a 25 show tour in a short 9 months to close out 2011.  Now travelling every weekend, he takes the country by storm.

New Boyz is a hip hop/rap group consisting of rappers Earl “Ben J” Benjamin and Dominic “Legacy” Thomas. They debuted in summer 2009 with their viral hit, “You’re a Jerk”, taken from their debut studio album Skinny Jeanz and a Mic, released in September 2009. The song peaked in the top thirty of the Billboard Hot 100. A second single, “Tie Me Down” featuring Ray J, was also successful and peaked in the top thirty. In May 2011, their second studio album, Too Cool to Care, was released. It includes the top 40 hits “Backseat”, featuring The Cataracs and Dev, and “Better with the Lights Off” featuring Chris Brown. The New Boyz have also been featured on Hot Chelle Rae’s song “I Like It Like That”, which peaked at #28 on the Hot 100.

Timeflies is a music duo formed in October 2010 consisting of the group’s producer Rob Resnick and vocalist Cal Shapiro. The two previously performed together in the Tufts University funk band, The Ride. Though they got their start in Boston, Cal and Rez are originally from New York and New Jersey, and are currently living in Manhattan. Timeflies incorporates elements of pop, electro, dubstep and rock in their music. They have become an internet sensation and record videos and post them on Tuesdays; also known as Timflies Tuesday.

There is so much talent coming to campus. Get excited Bryant. It will be a concert to remember!
