Bryant Dietitian Kate Moran

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bryant chapter.

HC: Name, job, and fun fact?

KM: Kate Moran, Registered Dietitian & Marketing Manager. My participation on my college crew team ignited my interest in becoming a dietitian.

HC: What is your favorite part about Bryant University?

KM: Everyone – students, faculty and staff – is very kind. It is a cohesive community that I am proud and lucky to be a part of.

HC: What’s the best advice/tip you have for college women to eat healthy or stay in shape?

KM: Stay focused and true to your health and wellness goals, but don’t get too caught up in it. College is a time to focus on school and grow as a person. Especially with D1 athletics at Bryant, sports play a major role in many students’ lives. I believe it is very important to be nutritionally focused, but have it be a piece of the puzzle. Limiting yourself to a point of misery or overindulging so much it affects you negatively are two extremes. Moderation is key to nutritional success!

HC: What are your daily responsibilities at Bryant?

KM: As a dietitian my major responsibility is to ensure all students have adequate nutritious food offered. Whether the student is vegan and allergic to soy, or gluten-free and trying to lose weight, my personal goal is to educate and communicate possible options to them. I work closely with the culinary team to make sure we have healthy options available throughout all locations. I oversee the Gluten Solutions station, which offers food made without gluten ingredients for those who follow a gluten-free diet. I counsel students individually, prepare presentations for sports teams and clubs, and have monthly nutrition table events to share new menu items and nutrition education. As the Marketing and Social Media Manager, I oversee the point-of-service signage, dining services website and Twitter and Instagram accounts. Overall I try my best to be an active member of the Bryant community, and a face to dining services in effort to enrich and nourish the lives of the Bryant community.

HC: What experience have you had with Her Campus before?

KM: I previously worked at Brandeis University where I had a weekly article on Her Campus. I enjoy working with the college population because it is such a pivotal time in young women’s lives to make smart, educational choices, especially when it comes to taking care of your body with nutritious food.
