Influence of Music

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brenau chapter.

Have you ever found yourself lost for words and confused on what to say? You found yourself thinking and/or feeling like you have no voice and no one understands how you feel. Most times, when people feel like this they listen to music. Music helps with more problems than people can ever imagine, but it can also help create problems too. It’s like a situation where you can’t win for losing. Music influences the young mind in many different ways, but it also inspires the young mind and shapes it into something beautiful. People feel like music is sometimes their voice. For the words they can’t say or the people that won’t hear them, the music speaks for them all. Some people also argue that music influences violent actions and/or things for young people, which is not all a false statement. It works both ways. For the violence that people feel like they need a motivation for and/or purpose, some music influences that. For the voice of the people who have strong and powerful statements, music also influences that. Music has saved lives, motivated some when no one else would, inspired people to want and/or be more out of life, and just an influence in general. Some people are blind to the type of power that music has and for those who are creating such a thing should be more mindful of the things they’re selling. Ignorance is bliss and it also sells. People love ignorance and some even thinks it’s fun. Some can argue that’s why music with no meaning sells. People don’t understand that even the music with no meaning to some is still an influence on others. A lot of problems that the world faces will never have peace because of the messages that are influencing the young mind. Children and others young adults are the future. They are what the world is depending on and people need to understand that. The messages that are being presented and installed into their minds are what the future is going to be built upon. Music is a beautiful and sensational form of art and people don’t even realize that. The voice is a powerful thing and what’s even more powerful are the words, messages, and statements coming from it.
