3 Reasons Why It can Suck being the President of an Organization

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brenau chapter.

Being the president of a campus organization can honestly suck sometimes. A lot of times, you get stuck doing all of the work and you feel like you’re the only one who sees light and greatness in your vision. From membership accountability to taking the buck for all the organizations problems, it can be time consuming, stressful, and just a big weight on your back. Here are some reasons why being the President can be super stressful.

Everyone looks to you for answers.

When I first started Her Campus at Brenau (the organization that I am the president of), I did not think people would have so many questions. But they do. And sure, it is expected that you know the ins and outs of your organization like the back of your hand, but honestly, when it comes to decision making, I am only a student. The most anxiety comes from when there is a conflict that no one agrees with, and you’re the one that has to come in and fix everything.

You might as well call it a job.

I never thought I would spend so much time working on Her Campus. I spend about 10-12 hours a week working on assignments, making sure requirements are meant, and keeping up with our campus reputation.

Sometimes it feels like everything at your school is over programmed.

You plan a day for your event. You put a lot of effort into figuring out what day for your big event is great for everybody, and then boom. A sorority is having an event that same night, and now you know that nobody is going to come to your event.

Despite the hardships of presidency, your vision is completely worth it. People see you. People know you. People love you. Keep on Presidenting.
