Isn’t every Saturday Galentine’s Day? Whether spending the day perusing the mall, enjoying an impromptu road trip, giving and taking advice, watching romantic comedies, or brunch on the town- spending time with my closest friends is unquestionably one of my favorite parts of the week. So, Galentine’s Day is just an excuse to spend the day with some of the coolest people I know.

I happen to love Galentine’s Day, but half the time it creeps up on me and I haven’t made any definitive plans with my friends. It normally just falls together, which is why I love this “holiday.” My friends and I are so similar that though we have varying opinions on Valentine’s Day (you can see my personal 2015 blog post about “Single Awareness Day”), we all know that Galentine’s Day is where it’s at. On the few occasions we’re all busy, I fill up my iPhone kindle app with cheap romance novels and have myself an impromptu read-a-thon. On my blog post, I list some of my favorite romance books.-Zara Hoffman ’18

To me, Galentine’s day is (or should be) everyday! You should send love to your friends, girls and guys, everyday. It is not soley about reminding your friends how much you love them, but rather about the support you can give. Checking in is a little easy thing that goes such a long way. Galentine’s day is everyday that I surround myself with loving and supporting friends.

I’m so excited to be spending this Galentine’s Day by bringing some of closest friends at Brandeis back home with me to Florida! Abby, Amanda, Lia, and Sarah: Love you all. Haliana: I wish you could come, but I still love you. Friendships are a beautiful thing, and Galentine’s Day is a great excuse to celebrate them.

I love the idea of Galentine’s Day. Why should you not take the opportunity to spend some quality time with your friends and really treat your self? Whether it’s watching chick flicks together or going out for a meal, or all of the above, I think it’s great to take the opportunity to surround yourself with some great people and remember how much you are loved and supported by your friends!
