Vineet Vishwanath ’18

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

Name: Vineet Vishwanath, Vinny, Vanet, that kid with that emerald ring…

Year: Year of the dog aka. 2018

Hometown: Baldwin, New York

Majors/Minors: Double major in Biology and French and Francophone Studies

Her Campus: What drew you to Brandeis?

VV: Honestly, the minute I stepped foot on campus the summer before my senior year of high school, I knew that this is the place I wanted to be. I immediately felt a very welcoming and accepting vibe that I hadn’t felt anywhere else I had visited.

HC: What is your favorite part about Brandeis?

VV: There were many reasons I was drawn to Brandeis, but if I had to pick one reason, it would be the student body. Everyone is so genuine and caring, and it’s honestly the best thing about Brandeis. Everyone has a unique personality and is not afraid to share that with others, which I find truly humbling to be a part of.

HC: What are you involved with on campus?

VV: I’m currently finishing up my term as the Intercultural Center (ICC) Representative for the South Asians Students Association (SASA), and hoping to become co-president next year. I’m also a chatter for Admissions and an OL and enjoy working with first-years and prospective students like you don’t even know. In addition, I am also the vice president of the Brandeis Ballroom Formation Team and can dip and twirl people pretty well I’d like to think.

HC: What is one thing you would tell your freshman-self?

VV: When you go off the beaten path, never forget the path you took to get there. You never know when you need to take steps back in order to move forward.

HC: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

VV: In 5 years, I see myself in medical school, possibly abroad, travelling and exploring the world at any chance I get, making others smile, but most importantly, being happy and enjoying everyday to the fullest. #carpediem

Class at Brandeis: Bollywood Popular Film, Genre, and Society.

Movie: Le scaphandre et le papillon (The Diving Bell and the Butterfly).

Book: I really can’t decide between The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini and Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger comes in second, so let’s just say both are my favorites.

City: New York, New York. What’s not to love about it!? ….nothing, that’s right.
