Super Cute Valentine’s Nails!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

Nail art is a cute way to get in the love-filled spirit of Valentines Day.  Even if it’s a simple red or pink nail color, there’s no time like Valentine’s day to get out those girly colors!  If you want to spice up the usual plain manicure while being in tune with the season of love, here are a couple of ideas to spark your nail-magination!

If you love everything about hearts and have some patience, this heart-filled manicure is adorable.  You can start with any base color you want; here I used Zoya’s Zuza, a shimmery bright blue with lots of contrast to the usual Valentine’s pinks.  Then, with a small dotting tool or toothpick (or even pencil tip!), start forming small hearts in pinks and purples by starting with a small blob of polish and dragging it down to form half a heart, then repeating to complete! (Here I used Zoya’s Reagan, Jolene, and Dana for the hearts).

If you love the colors of Valentine’s Day but aren’t into the frills, this striped gradient might be for you!  First, put down a neutral base color; here I used a Wet’n’Wild white.  After completely drying, I applied striping tape where I wanted the white to stay, and painted in between the lines in colors ranging from pink to purple (colors in order: Claire’s light pink mini, Zoya Jolene, Zoya Dana, Zoya Reagan, Zoya Aurora, Zoya Mira, and on the thumbs, a dark LA Colors purple). Then the tape was removed to reveal even and adorable Valentine’s stripes!  If you don’t have striping tape, you can freehand the stripes with a small striping or paint brush.  Or if you’re patient, you can use strips of regular masking or scotch tape, snipped to size.  Just make sure the base coat of color is completely dry before applying any tape otherwise it will all pull off!

Good luck and happy painting–I hope you LOVE your Valentine’s nails!
