2012 Presidential Election: Voting is FashionableBy August 29, 2012 - 4:30pm As I was flipping through my September Issue of Elle magazine (the “biggest fashion issue of the year”), I came across an article that was in and amongst the articles about which styles were coming back and which collars were now considered fashionable. The title of the article, which was the largest print on the page, said “GET OUT THE VOTE.” The article started with this opening line: “More women than men have voted in every presidential election since 1964,” (Elle Magazine, September 2012). You don’t have to live in Boston to participate in this short survey. However, we strictly want to hear from people who are nail salon patrons. READ MORE |

Sex, the City, and HBO's "Girls"By April 27, 2012 - 10:34am HBO’s new series Girls, created by Lena Dunham, which aired on April 15, 2012, has sparked conversation all over the Internet, everywhere ranging from the New York Times to Refinery 29, my favorite blog. It has even been compared to an updated version of Sex and the City – one where the characters have less money. Still, the general theme of the show is still the same: four young girls trying to find their way in New York City. This time, however, the girls have been displaced to Brooklyn, yet their romantic relationships are no less awkward and confusing. READ MORE |
