As a New Yorker, one of the things I miss the most about living in the city is the food. No shade to Sodexo, Waltham, Cambridge, or Boston, but I will never prioritize food like I do when I’m home in Manhattan. Below are the first restaurants and stores I visited when I was home.
Joe Coffee
Joe’s is my go-to caffeine provider. There is never a time where they do not satisfy my coffee needs. Below is a classic Latte. There are many Joe Coffee locations throughout the city.
Dough
Dough is one of the many new shops following the gourmet donut trend. My favorite flavors are passion fruit, salted chocolate, glazed, and dulce de leche. There are two different Dough stores.
Percy’s Pizza
My favorite place to quickly grab a slice of pizza is Percy’s. This is the best $1 pizza in the city. It is located on Bleecker street in the Village. It is small, hidden, and a literal hole in the wall.
Japonica
Japonica is known as the best sushi in the Village. The small and cozy restaurant is always packed, but the nice, welcoming staff always make sure your wait is quick. From rolls to udan to chicken teriyaki, Japonica satisfies all your Japanese food needs.
Bubby’s
Bubby’s is a classic brunch spot with locations around Manhattan and Brooklyn. Their food is just as great as their warm aesthetic. You will not be disappointed with anything you order.
Aroma Espresso Bar
Aroma Espresso Bar has a few locations in Manhattan. It is a cute place for a full meal or just a warm drink. In the spring and summer I always get an Iced Aroma but since it’s February, I stuck with an Aroma Coffee, which is espresso with chocolate and cream.
