Year: 2018
Major: Business and/or Economics!
Hometown: Cheshire, Connecticut
Her Campus: What are you involved with on campus?
Rebecca Chen: I’m in ELL (English Language Learning), which helps Brandeis employees who have trouble with English be more comfortable talking and writing English. I’m also a part of TIPS, which is associated with Waltham Group.
HC: What made you decide to come to Brandeis?
RC: Since I was accepted as a midyear, I thought it was a unique experience to have a semester to relax and enjoy myself before going straight to college. I also wanted to attend a great school near Boston with strong academics and an awesome community of students and faculty.
HC: Best thing about being a midyear?
RC: It was easy to make friends since it was a smaller group of people and we all could relate to one another since we are all midyears. Also, it’s fun being able to know who is a midyear in classes whereas other students can’t tell.
HC: What do you do for Her Campus Brandeis?
RC: I help out with Social Media – Pinterest and Twitter.
HC: What got you interested in social media and PR?
RC: In this day and age, people all around the world are connecting with one another, whether it’s through Facebook, Twitter, Line, Instagram… you name it. Social Media is a vital part in today’s society and I want to make an impact.
HC: What are your eventual plans for after you graduate?
RC: I hope to work at Birchbox HQ.
HC: What is something people wouldn’t know about you just from looking at you?
RC: I love to crochet and I play 3 instruments: piano, guitar, and oboe!
