A Look at Our New Rooftop Garden

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Brandeis chapter.

Congratulations are in order for Brandeis Farmers Club!  At the end of last semester Farmers Club was able to create a beautiful Rooftop Garden atop Gerstenzang.  Now, several months later, the garden is flourishing.  A quick walk through the rows of overfilling planters will take you past fragrant herbs, massive heirloom tomatoes, and Swiss chard, among a variety of other veggies and edible plants.  Deservedly so, the garden has received a lot of attention in the local press including the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald and our very own Brandeis Hoot.  It is without doubt that this garden has become a source of pride for Brandeis and its students as the newest campus gem.  While I myself am not a member of Farmers Club I cannot be prouder of the students who committed their time, love and dedication into making Brandeis and the world a greener, more sustainable and conscious place.  I know this sentiment is reflected by many fellow students as well as the members of Her Campus Brandeis.  Once again, congratulations to Farmers Club! I cannot wait to see how the project continues to develop!

I am a double major in Anthropology and International/Global Studies with a minor in Creativity, the Arts, and Social Transformation at Brandeis University. As a native Southern Californian, I have a born passion for avocados and an innate dread of cold weather. In my free time I love cooking (with avocados of course), drawing and writing.
