1. How do you like being a CA in the castle? Does living there make you feel royal?

I enjoy it, my residents are cool cats. During training it was very scary to be the only one living there in the dark. You hear weird noises and the wind sounds like howling at night. It’s rough living away from all my friends that live in grad. My grandma calls me a queen ever since I told her about my position in the castle, which is sweet. I guess it has its perks haha.

2. What is the best part about working in Chums? Who is your favorite person/group you have seen perform there?

I can’t decide on one show, Twin Shadow and Surfer Blood are hands down my best concert experience at chums.Fun Fact, I love Surfer Blood but didn’t know what the members looked like so the day they played I was sitting with the drummer for half an hour sipping coffee before I asked who he was, it was very cool. The best part about working at chums is becoming part of the Cholmondley’s Alumni Society (superrrr secret) and working with rad folks.

3. Tell us about what is it like working at Getz Media lab! What are some of the awesome projects you get to help people with? Have you created cool media projects?

Getz is great- We get to learn all types of media software such as Adobe CS6 which includes Photoshop, Premier, Flash etc. as well as training on how to use all of our high end equipment for video projects. I help out clients with anything from renting out equipment, transferring VHS to DVD, to syncing and cutting clips in Final Cut. I’ve worked on some compositing, after effects and premier projects as well as promo videos for Hiatt and campus events. I’m currently working on a documentary about My mother’s tamales and her immigration to this country from Guatemala, but its still in the works!

4. What are some of your responsibilities as a docent at the Rose Art Museum? What do you think of their new exhibits

Currently I work special events on campus that include class workshops or guest speakers that come to the Rose. I usually have to make sure I safeguard the pieces on display, inform visitors about the current exhibits and generally keep an eye out for improper visitor behavior. I love the new exhibit, I think the concept of interactive art is mindboggling for most visitors who come in, they’re always confused about the mirrors breaking underneath them, it’s a new understanding and concept for museums that generally push the “do not touch” idea into our subconscious. If you have not already done so, I encourage you to visit the Rose, this semester especially!

5. If you could trade places with anyone living or dead for a day who would you choose and why?

I think I would try to be Amy Winehouse, I love her music and felt terrible when I found out about her death. I would try to make that day incredible for her in hopes to create an alternative ending.

6. If you could describe yourself in 3 words what would they be?

Curious, chill, spontaneous.

Andrea is a sociology major with minors in journalism and women's and gender studies. She is currently finishing her senior year at Brandeis University. She was born and reared in Los Angeles, CA, which does mean that she is a die-hard Laker fan… Sorry Bostonians. When Andrea is not routing on her favorite basketball team, she dedicates her time to her many passions. They include reading and writing about fashion, traveling, exploring new restaurants, spending time with friends, watching reality television (she has a weak spot for Bravo), shopping, and working out.
