This past week I went on a search to find the best chocolate mug cake out there. To test these desserts, I made and ate the three most highly recommended recipes on the internet. In an effort to find the best cake, some of my friends and I ranked them each on a scale from 1 to 5 on moistness, chocolate-ness, flavor, and texture. Here’s what we found:

Overall it was a great cake, but it wasn’t that chocolatey. The other odd thing about this cake is that it calls for brown sugar, which is something I don’t have just lying around in my dorm. However, if you’re a person who doesn’t like your cake to be super chocolatey, you would love this cake! The texture and moistness and overall flavor were really great. However, it just didn’t quench my chocolate needs.

2. Microwave Chocolate Mug Cake from Allrecipes

This cake was more chocolatey than the first one, and its flavor was definitely bolder. However, it was not as moist as I was hoping it would be. Overall though, it was a solid chocolate mug cake.

This recipe actually was recommended to me by my mom. She said it was the best mug cake she had ever had, and she was completely right. This perfectly moist cake had the perfect amount of chocolate, a lovely flavor, and a great texture. This is definitely my new go-to mug cake!
