Hometown: Princeton, MA
Class: 2015
Major: Psychology and Sociology
Minor: Peace studies and Philosophy
HerCampus: What clubs and organizations are you involved in on campus?
Emily: I’ve been super busy as a peer counselor for S.T.A.R (Students Talking About Relationships) because we just finished training, but I also played intramural soccer and am hoping to get a radio show once I have time.
HC: What do you love about being a S.T.A.R counselor?
Emily: I love S.T.A.R because I love talking to people and listening to all the different things people care about and the ways people think about life. I also think it’s so important for people to know that there is always someone there for them, who cares and who can listen.
HC: How did you get involved with S.T.A.R?
Emily: I got involved with S.T.A.R after applying and getting interviewed. I’ve been thinking that maybe I’d like to be a couples or family counselor when I grow up, so I figured this might be a good place to start!
HC: What are some of your hobbies that you do outside of classes?
Emily: Outside of classes I like to read Vonnegut, meditate, run and try to teach myself musical instruments.
HC: Where is your favorite place to eat on campus? Off campus?
Emily: Baan Thai for sure. Every single time my parents visit I drag them there! Oh and on campus…. that is a difficult one. I have a love/hate relationship with Sherman.
HC: What is your favorite place to go for an afternoon off campus?
Emily: The reservoir. It’s so beautiful!
HC: What are some of your hidden talents?
Emily: I can play the first two chords of a Beirut song on the ukulele.
HC: What are your hopes for the next semester at Brandeis? What do you hope to accomplish for yourself? For the campus?
Emily: I just want to stay happy and never stop learning. I will feel accomplished if I lose my keys less than ten times and if I can get involved in some kind of psychology research on campus, since we have such a great program here.
HC: What is the best movie you saw recently?
Emily: Perks of Being a Wallflower! I just saw it tonight. Great soundtrack.
