Posh in the Pines: Dateweek Do’s and Don’ts

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bowdoin chapter.

Hey guys we’re back for another week but this time we have a treat for you. In honor of date week, our fashion blog is dedicated to the fashion dos and don’ts for date week.  Tasha is going to give her female perspective to the guys and George is coming for you ladies.

Tasha: Hey guys it’s important to remember, when taking out that special lady it’s ok to dress up; however, tuxedos are present at weddings for a reason. Don’t Go Overboard—Because You Will Surely Drown! You want to give the impression that you tried but you’re not trying too hard. An easy way to look the part is to just a throw on a pair of corduroys and plain button up or a trendy sweater. You can throw on a pair of converse to make the outfit more casual, but if you’re feeling bold, match your favorite pair of oxfords to jazz it up a bit.

Suggestion: Casual is cool but if you want to appear a bit more dressy, you should look at this fashionable fellow below. Look how he pairs his eggplant skinny jeans with a much more formal sweater and bowtie.  He uses his edgy biker jacket to add texture and funk to his ensemble. Take note of the different themes of fashion that he collides together to make the perfect date look. Don’t forget you can throw on your favorite pair sneakers with this too.

George: All the single ladies, now put your hands up! Now take that tacky ring off!!! Ok ladies it’s important to remember that less is more when you’re getting ready for your special night.  I know diamonds are a girl’s best friends but that doesn’t mean wearing your whole jewelry box on your date. Like Tasha mentioned earlier Don’t Go Overboard.  You want your accessories to compliment your outfit not take away from it. If you wear to many accessories it distracts from your outfit as well as your beauty.  That doesn’t mean go all Plain Jane. Choose simple pieces that discreetly enhance your overall look.  When it comes to clothes, wear something that makes you feel and look beautiful.  Wear an outfit that shows off your best assets. Literally. Just kidding.

Suggestions:  Use this cute girl for an example.  She pairs her simple black blouse with a sexy grey skirt that shows off her legs. JUST A TASTE LADIES.  Don’t give everything away on the first date. Leave some things for the guy’s imagination so he keeps coming back for more. Her gold accessorizes complete the outfit. They do not distract from outfit but enhance the ensemble. Her blue platform shoes put a nice spin on her outfit. Finally, her clean and simple hairdo make her sexy outfit spicier. Most importantly, remember it’s about confidence and how you carry yourself in the outfit.

Happy Date Weekend
Xoxo
