5 Songs You Should Know About NOW

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bowdoin chapter.

At such a small school, it’s not a stretch to think that your whole floor has the same song stuck in their head. That certainly could be the case with these catchy songs–all of which should be on your playlist as of yesterday. However, I realize not everyone may have gotten the memo (trust me I am that person most times so don’t feel bad) and thus I have decided to bring the memo to Hercampus.

Here are five songs you NEED to know about:
1.     ‘Gangnam Style’ by PSY – As inthecac puts it: this song is the “new ‘Call Me Maybe’.” PSY knew what he was doing, as it’s a catchy song with a hilarious dance. After you watch the music video look up the parodies on youtube–they’re the best “study break” from that Physics problem set that has been stressing you out.

2.     ‘No Interruption’ by Hoodie Allen – His songs will remind you of Asher Roth and Sammy Adams, but Hoodie Allen has somehow managed to make ‘No Interruption’ a song that will stick in your head almost in the same way as Roth’s ‘I Love College’.

3.     ‘Summertime Sadness’ by Lana del Ray – Even though Lana del Ray is only on album number one, trust me when I tell you it’s a great album. Her voice has this husky feel that makes you want to press repeat one more time.

4.     ‘Sail’ by AWOLNATION – Be prepared for heavy bass with this one, but don’t be alarmed because ‘Sail’ isn’t a song that isn’t as dubstep-in-your-face as all the others. AWOLNATION has created a great song that can be used for either motivation when you’re on mile two on the treadmill or just chilling on a Thursday night.

5.     ‘She’s Country’ by Jason Aldean – This a pretty old one, but if you haven’t heard this song playing as pump up for Field Hockey or Softball game I don’t know where you’ve been. Plus there’s something I like about how Jason Aldean mentions Brunswick (even though I know he’s probably singing about the town in Georgia- but a girl can dream).
