6 Ways to Stay Healthy This Semester

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bloom U chapter.

1) Substitute water instead of soda or juices

Your body needs water in copious amounts.  Drinking water helps brighten your skin, helps you sleep better, flushes out toxins and aids to weight loss.

2) Limit yourself to one sweet treat every other day

Those PSl’s and Peppermint Mocha’s from Starbucks taste great but the calorie and sugar levels in them are scary.  Try to only have one a day (if you can, one a week) that way you don’t drink your calories!

3) Snack on fruits or veggies

Try to prepare cut up peppers, apples, and oranges to snack on when you’re bored or hungry.  Keep lots of fruits and veggies in your fridge that way you’ll be more inclined to snack on those.

4) Even if you skip the gym, go for a walk with a friend

It’s not always easy to get to the gym especially if you’re busy but don’t skip on the exercise, grab a friend and walk around campus or go to the park and go for a stroll.

5) Shop the perimeter of the grocery store

The perimeter of the grocery store is where the most fresh foods are, if you stick to the perimeter you’re more likely to take home much more healthy options.

6) The more color the better

If your plate looks like a rainbow then you’re doing it right, the more colors the better.
