25 Ways to Get into the Holiday Spirit!!

It is the most wonderful time of the year, but with final papers, projects, and exams it can be hard to get into the holiday spirit. Here are some ways to get yourself and others into a better, cheerful mood for the upcoming holiday! Happy Holidays!!!

1. Christmas decorations EVERYWHERE!!

Hang mistletoe, put ornanments on the tree, get a string of lights up, place candy canes all around, have Santa statues in random places, and so many more

2. Blast Michael Bublé’s Christmas Album

The greatest Christmas album to ever exist, it can’t make you not want the holidays.

3. Wear an ugly Christmas sweater

Everyone loves a good ugly sweater and the uglier, the better!

4. Wipe out your Santa hat

And wear it all day, every day

5. Watch every movie on ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas… even though it’s Freeform now

Some of the best films you will ever watch, especially if you’re a 90s baby. The movies are the ones you grew up watching during the holidays

6. Drink lots of hot chocolate and eggnog

Don’t forget to be nice and cozy when doing so

7. Take a trip to go ice skating

There is nothing better than falling down to freeze your butt off to get you ready for the holidays

8. Surprise your parents with a picture of you and your siblings with Santa

Don’t let them believe that just because you’re growing up doesn’t mean that you’re not their child anymore

9. Make Christmas cookies

You can make them anytime of the year, but something about it being Christmas makes them taste even better

10. Invite your friends over to make a gingerbread house

You can later devour it together while watching Love Actually

11. Set up a grab bag or secret Santa with friends, coworkers, or family

It’s the season of giving, give to those who are most important to you

12. Drive around at night to see everyone’s Christmas decorations

People go all out for the holidays, you never know what you’ll turn down the corner and see

13. Build a snow man or make a snow angel

If it ever decides to snow, get the best of the experience

14. Go to your town’s tree lighting

It is a great way to see old friends and catch up but also to support where you are from

You do not have to do it for money, do it to spread the holiday cheer!

16. Start planning your New Years resolutions

You never know what you’ll accomplish but you are more likely to do it if you write it down

17. Read a Christmas classic from your childhood

Whether it be The Polar Express or How the Grinch Stole Christmas, it is nice to relive your childhood at times

18. Watch old home videos from Christmas

See your reactions to your old gifts, reminisce on the memories you created that year

19. Enjoy the seasonal food

Gingerbread, caramel, roasted meats, pies, eggnog, cinnamon, peppermint, roasted chestnut cookies, fruit cakes, pomegranate, and cranberries

20. Send out your own Christmas cards

Let your friends and family know that you care and love them

21. Host a DIY Christmas crafting party

Go to your local craft store and find a craft to do with a group of people one day

22. Sit by the fire

Snuggling under a fuzzy blanket by a warm fire is the perfect way of relaxing

23. Recreate old photographs 

Get together with your family to find pictures to reenact, share the old verses the new on social media or even as a gift

24. Give a little extra

Pick out gifts for your loved ones but don’t forget about those in need and donate to a charity or volunteer where you could be needed

25. Make sure you remember 2016

As the year comes to an end, take time to write down some of the things you’re grateful for and want to remember as time passes, put it somewhere you will not forget to look back at the end of 2017
